2009 Library Gardens Art Project

in association with Stowe Family Law LLP

March 2009: Harrogate in Bloom has unveiled a community partnership project at Harrogate Library that will see the building hoardings turned into works of art.

Sponsored by local family law specialists, Stowe Family Law LLP, art students from Harrogate College are working with Harrogate in Bloom, Harrogate Council’s Parks and Open Spaces Team and North Yorkshire County Council Library Service to transform the perimeter safety hoardings while the £3.4m library refurbishment is underway.

Adam King, Art and Design Tutor at the College, says that such hoardings are necessary but often boring. He said: “The students have been inspired by this project. They are keen to use their artistic skills to help make Harrogate more attractive especially as the hoardings are forming a backdrop to the Rose Gardens where many enjoy a sit or a stroll. The students have come up with a number of designs all of which will have a reading or writing theme. We are grateful to Stowe Family Law LLP who have generously offered to cover the cost of materials.”
