Champagne breakfast raises money for Horticap
A friendship that is blossoming between Harrogate in Bloom and Horticap has been further cemented. Harrogate in Bloom has presented Horticap with a cheque for £1389.
This money was raised at a Champagne Breakfast organised by Harrogate in Bloom at this year's Harrogate Spring Flower Show in April.

Horticap, which started from small beginnings in a wooden hut on Otley Road, is this year celebrating its 25th anniversary. Qualified staff and volunteers provide training in horticulture and associated craft and rural skills for adults with learning difficulties. Bluecoat Wood Nursery now boasts a number of modern greenhouses, plant and potting sheds as well as a shop which sells plants, hanging baskets and arts and crafts made by the students. The shop is open to the public seven days a week.
Caroline Bayliss from Harrogate in Bloom Group, urges anyone with an interest in horticulture to visit Bluecoat Wood Nursery. She said: “Horticap have created a fantastic site and garden. Definitely a place to add to the spring, summer and Christmas shopping lists. There is a wonderful atmosphere here, advice is readily available from the students who will always greet you with a warm smile and a cheery hello. They are also keen to share their skills with you about what grows best in different parts of the garden. We are delighted to continue our support for this very worthwhile project.”
