7 July

2026

Yorkshire in Bloom judges, Steve Bumby and Karen Ellis, spent the whole day in our beautiful town touring the horticultural highlights and meeting the fantastic people, who ensure Harrogate maintains its reputation as the Floral Town of the North. We hope for another Gold when the results are announce on 24 September.

In the morning of 7th July, the Yorkshire in Bloom judges, were given a tour of Horticap, Harlow Hill Allotments, Rossett Acre Primary School, Rossett Local Nature Reserve, the Fat Badger, the town centre including the Crown roundabout, Montpellier Hill, the Stray, Rogers Alms houses, Spencerley Gardens, Library Gardens by Harrogate in Bloom members. The tour was followed by lunch at the West Park Visitors' Centre, where the judges could see the new horticultural boards which now form part of the Harrogate Story and also meet Town Council Mayor, Viv Poskitt. A photo call and interviews with the Stray Ferret concluded the first part of the day.
In the afternoon, members of Harrogate BID took the judges on a more extended tour of the town centre, including their fantastic Summer of Celebration installations. The judges' day ended with a walk through the Valley Gardens with staff from North Yorkshire Council and members of Friends of Valley Gardens.
Our thanks go to everyone who helped on the day and contributed to making our town look at its amazing best.
